Mark Andrew Manning

Full Name and Nickname:
Mark Manning aka. Big Mark

Describe yourself in three words.
Entrepreneur, Family-man, Legend!!!!

Where you born? Raised? Currently reside where?
Born in Norton Canes, Staffordshire. Currently reside in Cheshire.

What did you want to be when you were a kid?
A millionaire playboy. No , seriously, one of the Beatles.

How do you like to spend your free time? Any hobbies?
Primarily I like to spend time with my family. As for hobbies, I play guitar, and like clay-pigeon shooting.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I have 2 grandchildren older than my youngest daughter.

Finish this sentence: If I had a million pounds…
I would share between my 7 children, 4 grandchildren and partner, with a little left over for a decent bottle of whiskey and fast car for me (not at the same time obviously!)

How long have you been at Regal Pawn? How did you come to get involved in the business?
I am the founder. I’ve been here since the business started. Regal Pawn evolved naturally out of various other businesses I had at the time.

What other jobs did you have before you worked at Regal?
The list is too big to mention all but I’ve worked in a crematorium, repaired caravans, been a debt collector, been a night-club doorman, run a security firm, sold double glazing and worked for solicitors.

Who is the most valuable asset to Regal Pawn? Why?
The dedicated team who come in every day. We’re all family and family friends, we argue and fall out but love each other very much and are there for each other. Obviously Vicki and Little Mark are my favourite, but having your daughter and best friend working with you can be testing at times :)

What would you be doing with your life if you didn’t work at Regal Pawn?
That’s a hard one. I’d almost certainly be running my own business of some sort. I quite fancy being a commodities broker.

What’s the best thing about working at Regal?
The unpredictability of who we are and what we do. I never know what the working day will bring. Every day is an adventure. It’s challenging, but in a good way.

What’s the worst thing about working at Regal?
I love it too much, I’m always looking for more ideas and items, I can’t switch off. If I were less charitable, I would say Little Mark.

Tell us about a choice / funny / weird item to come through the doors of Regal Pawn. What happened?
The most choice item I’ve ever bought is a piece of the RMS Titanic. I believe it is the largest piece in private ownership. It’s amazing to have, thinking of what it is and what it’s been through.

What item would you most like to have the chance to buy / own?
A guitar owned and played by John Lennon. I’m a massive Beatles fan, and it would be fantastic to hold and play something that is a direct link into their history.
